Tribute to the “Sextuor à vent de Dijon”

TICKETS SOON

In 1962, six teachers from the Conservatoire de Dijon (France) created the ‘Sextuor à vent de Dijon’. The official debut of this group took place on 1 February 1964 at the Dijon theatre, as part of the Jeunesses Musicales de France programme.
The programme included some original works written for this new wind ensemble, one of which was Suite d’aprés Jean-Philippe Rameau, the work with which today's concert begins, in tribute to and promotion of original music for this wind ensemble.
This concert is also a tribute to Jean-Marie Londeix, the recently deceased saxophonist and founding member of the ‘Sextuor à vent de Dijon’. His contribution to the creation of new repertoires for the saxophone and various ensembles is undeniable, and his influence has been felt throughout the world.
