Ivo Canelas and João Vasco
Sinédoque
SOLD OUT
Evoking the figure of speech that expresses “the part for the whole” or “the whole for the part”, the show Sinédoque revisits and reinvents the work of Portuguese poets from the 20th and 21st centuries, including Alexandre O'Neill, Ruy Belo, Tiago Rodrigues and Margarida Vale de Gato.
A century and a half after the golden age of the art of ‘Song’ and ‘Melodrama,’ pianist João Vasco created works for recited voice and piano, translating the essence of each literary work into music. Actor Ivo Canelas, known and respected by the general public, but also by theatre and poetry lovers, interprets the poems and shares the artistic direction with João Vasco.
Currently on tour, Sinédoque premiered in 2023 and has been performed in Portugal, Tunisia, Cape Verde, Brazil, France, and Angola.
