The Quartzo Ensemble presents a programme entirely dedicated to French music from the late 19th and early 20th centuries, exploring the timbral richness and stylistic sophistication of writing for wind quintet. Debussy's Petite Suite, in a version for wind quintet, reveals the composer's characteristic melodic lightness and lyricism, while Ravel's Le Tombeau de Couperin pays homage to the French Baroque tradition through refined writing, where formal clarity is combined with profound expressiveness. The concert culminates with the Wind Quintet in G minor by Paul Taffanel, a central figure in the affirmation of the wind quintet as a chamber ensemble. This technically and musically demanding work reflects the virtuosity and elegance of the French school of wind instruments. A "ballad" between tradition and innovation, under the interpretative signature of the Quartzo Ensemble.
