LEIDA
Mythological Portraits
LEIDA was conceived by Mariana Dionísio to function as an 8-voice instrument.
Each piece is a set of parameterisation and limitation premises that consequently make them sub-instruments.
It is in these sub-instruments that they improvise or interpret the pieces she wrote, through the will of a gesture that calls objects into a parameterised, plastic and emancipated instrument.
The concert Mythological Portraits is inspired by the literary movement of magical realism. In a manner as open as it is precise, the music it presents is drawn in its own time, adapted to the acoustic space where it is performed, absorbing and reclaiming its properties and welcoming the figurative contamination of the creatures that lend themselves to inhabiting it.
