On the eve of the Advanced Polyphonic Music Workshop Presentation, Francisco Ruiz Montes, the workshop's instructor, invites the public to a moment of discovery and engagement with the program that will be performed.
This lecture will explore the selected works, the historical and artistic context in which they emerged, as well as the thematic line that guides the entire repertoire: "Polyphony and Counter-Reformation: a soundscape for Holy Week."
This free-entry meeting aims to reveal the common threads that unite the pieces and highlight relevant musical and interpretative aspects. Among the works to be discussed are the Office of Holy Week by Tomás Luis de Victoria—a major figure in sixteenth-century music, alongside Giovanni Palestrina and Orlando di Lasso—and the Troparion Processional of Alcobaça, composed in the Alcobaça Monastery in the 14th century.
A session designed to enrich listening and provide the audience with a more conscious and engaging experience at the concert the following day.
