The Duques do Precariado present a concert based on their second album, Encarnação. The project arose from a change of plans: initially, the band had planned a complex album rich in sonic layers, entitled Artes do Mato. However, the reality of their live performances — often played by just two members — led to the decision to create something more authentic and suited to their “scale”. The result was Encarnação, a work that embraces precariousness as a way of life, rejecting the modern civilisational project in an attitude the group defines as “Soft Luddism”.
The album is a liturgy that delves into the realities of the flesh and duration. The album was performed in Évora by Pedro Mendonça, João Fragoso and João Neves, with the collaboration of Hugo Oliveira, Zé Stark and Teresa Costa, and recorded/mixed by Filipe Paes. Encarnação is the expression of a mutual commitment, which the band considers to be the only way for people, places and culture to exist.
