The young Ensemble Sunrise, created for a specific project with the Coro da Banda de Alcobaça at Cistermúsica 2024, is daring to take its first steps as an independent group. It will present itself at Cistermúsica 2025 with a captivating and diverse programme, giving a small glimpse of the repertoire that most characterises the string orchestra. Some of the pearls of music have been selected that the general public can easily identify and enjoy.
A musical journey is proposed, visiting the styles and genres that have moulded music for strings and which will inevitably have ‘touched’ Maurice Ravel, the ephemeris of this edition of the festival. We'll start with one of the works by composer and musicologist Ottorino Respighi and go on to some of Maurice Ravel's most important works, including Vivaldi, Mozart and Falla.
Under the direction of violinist Nuno de Vasconcelos, the Sunrise Ensemble is made up of young musicians who are from or have studied in the West, with the mission of bringing new vitality to the string family in this region.
