Lux aeterna
FREE ENTRANCE
Lux Aeterna draws inspiration from the ancient prayer of the liturgy of the dead — Et lux perpetua luceat eis (And may perpetual light shine upon them) — evoking the hope that unites this programme.
The concert traces a journey from contemplation to celebration. Eleanor Daley’s Requiem invites reflection on loss, memory and consolation through choral writing of great delicacy and depth. In contrast, Antonio Vivaldi’s Gloria bursts forth with the exuberance and brilliance of Baroque music, celebrating the joy of the Incarnation and the promise of redemption.
Separated by more than three centuries, these works converge on a single message: the light that overcomes darkness and the hope that transcends death. Lux Aeterna thus becomes the guiding thread of a musical journey that culminates in an affirmation of hope and light.
