Baltimore Symphony Youth Orchestra
Suites de Carmen, by G. Bizet
The Baltimore Youth Symphony Orchestra, under the direction of conductor Christopher M. Cicconi, is performing in Portugal as part of its international tour entitled The Places You'll Go, with concerts planned at the Cistermúsica (Alcobaça) and Lisbon Music Fest (Lisbon, Batalha and Porto) that promise a musical journey around the world, reflecting its cultural diversity and the richness of its orchestral repertoire.
The programme includes works that transport us from the English countryside with Vaughan Williams to the Spanish exoticism of Bizet, via the Hungarian passion of Liszt and the Latin rhythms of Márquez. The youth orchestra will demonstrate its versatility and talent by performing pieces ranging from classical to contemporary, culminating in Saint-Saëns' electrifying Danse Bacchanale.
This performance not only highlights the virtuosity of these young musicians, but also celebrates music as a universal language that transcends borders.
