Musical Deambulations

We inform that due to the entry of the municipality of Alcobaça in the list of municipalities with high risk of Covid-19, a factor that implies more restrictive measures in the cultural sector, the schedules of the opera La Serva Padrona and Orquestra Metropolitana de Lisboa were anticipated to 9.00 pm.

The doors for both shows will open at 8.40 pm.

We thank you for your understanding.

Symphonic concert

One of the most tempting resources composers have to hold the listeners' attention is to quote familiar sounds. All societies are characterised by auditory impressions of their own. When framed in musical scores, they subtly invite us to travel to those "places". Although they come from another era, the three works on this programme awaken this desire in us. Johann Nepomuk Hummel was the musician who replaced Joseph Haydn as Chapel Master at the Esterházy court. In both the Potpourri (Fantasy) for Viola and the Trumpet Concerto he made explicit allusions to operas that were already popular in the early 19th century, such as Mozart's Don Giovanni and Cherubini's Les Deux Journées. In between, and transported back to 1960, Joly Braga Santos' Divertimento N.º 1 takes us through closer landscapes, with musical ideas related to traditional Portuguese music.
