The most acclaimed living singer of the great Italian lyrical tradition, celebrated by critics and audiences alike as the Queen of Bel Canto. Assiduously present on stage, in concerts all over the world, Mariella Devia dedicates much time to teaching, conducting Masterclasses in the biggest and most prestigious European Theatres and Academies.
For the first time in Portugal, Art Allurement and Cistermusica bring Mariella Devia for an intensive Singing Masterclass, focused on the Italian Belcanto style. During 5 days the 12 selected singers will have the opportunity to learn and work directly with the peerless Mariella Devia.
The Allurement Trio will host the "Opera Gala: Homage to Mariella Devia" and will also invite some of the participating singers, culminating this unmissable and unique Masterclass in Portugal.
In 1973, Mariella Devia won the Toti Dal Monte competition and made her debut as the leading lady in Lucia di Lammermoor. Her interpretation of Lucia - to which she bid farewell during the 2005/06 season at the Teatro alla Scala - remains one of the most prestigious in the history of bel canto.
During his highly regarded career he has collaborated with the best conductors in the world. The Metropolitan Opera, Carnegie Hall in New York and Covent Garden in London, Royal Concertgebouw in Amsterdam, Lyric Opera of Chicago, Staatsoper of Munich, Opéra National and Théâtre de Champs-Élysées in Paris, Teatro Real of Madrid, Gran Teatre del Liceu in Barcelona, Opera of Tokyo, are only a few of the stages where she has interpreted the great primary roles that characterize her as the greatest singer of Bel Canto's life.
On stage at the main Italian theaters Teatro alla Scala, San Carlo, La Fenice, Regio a Torino, Massimo in Palermo, Regio in Parma, Opera in Rome, Comunale a Bologna, The Muses in Ancona, Rossini Opera Festival, Maggio Musicale Fiorentino, Martina Franca Festival, Ravenna Festival - Mariella Devia has played prominent female characters in the history of opera - from Rossini, to Mozart, to Donizetti, to Bellini, to Verdi - asserting herself and leaving her personal mark of absolute importance in this repertoire, in each of the recitatives performed.
Music historians agree in defining her as one of the most beautiful Belcanto voices of all time, highlighting the great soprano for her interpretative strength and her extraordinary vocality.
